There are two main models for purchasing software development services: a fixed-price project or a dedicated resource (rented developer).
Buying a project
Fixed price and defined scope. The budget risk lies with the supplier. Suitable for well-defined projects where requirements are clear. The challenge is flexibility — any change requires renegotiation.
Dedicated resource
You pay for the developer’s hours or month. The risk lies with the client, but flexibility is at its highest: you can shift priorities weekly and adjust volume as needed. Suitable for ongoing development.
HD SofT recommendation
For new projects we often offer a combination: the first phase (definition, prototype) at a fixed price, then continuation as a dedicated resource. That gives you the best of both clarity and flexibility.
